Nine years ago today, I nervously giggled up the aisle and married this guy.

I will admit, I may have thought the most exciting thing going on today was spending the morning at the dentist with my son, only to find out he doesn’t have nearly enough room in his mouth for all the teeth that want to get in.

But I was wrong. I darn near teared up when I came home and saw that my husband had put together a mix in our honor.

It includes Tom Petty, George Harrison, INXS and The Bangles, and most importantly Echo & The Bunnymen’s Lips Like Sugar. A song, that if I could go back in time and do it all over again, I would pick for our first dance, mostly just so I could make a fantastic fool of myself by singing the chorus at the top of my lungs.

I like flowers, and chocolate is nice, but a mix blows it all out of the water. Clearly, I made the right choice.
